2011 Volkswagen Tiguan vs. 2011 Honda CR-V
Volkswagen's Tiguan is considered a CUV or crossover utility vehicle, and fits into VW's lineup right under the Touareg in size. The CR-V is, and has been Honda's compact suv since the mid-1990s and is smaller than the Honda Pilot.
The Tiguan was named to IIHS's Top Safety Picks for 2011, while the CR-V was left off of the list. The only Honda SUV on the list for 2011 was the Element. The Volkswagen Touareg also made the list in 2011.
The 2011 Honda CR-V was rated "among the best" by J.D. Power for Overall Dependability,
Powertrain Dependability, and
Body & Interior Dependability, in the Compact Crossover SUV category. The Tiguan was rated "about average" in the Predicted Reliability, Overall Quality Mechanical, and Powertrain Quality Mechanical categories.
